Montura, a leading brand in mountain clothing, in recent years has proven itself up to expectations, responding to the requests of the footwear segment with a very technical offer. Tre Cime GTX is a solid and robust boot that represents an “entry level” model precisely because it is the link between the two market segments (mountaineering and hiking). The upper adopts the Dynamic Wrapping system which allows perfect adjustment of the volumes by wrapping the foot precisely and adapting to every movement. The suede has got a curvilinear profile that allows for a fluid and rapid sliding of the lace. The easy fit is facilitated by the wide excursion of the tongue. Inside, the spaces are precise and enveloping, especially in the heel and arch areas. It features a fairly classic design but what really catches the eye is the heel area, with the TPU insert for the crampon and the rigid structure (anatomically shaped to contain and stabilize the heel) which reveals the characteristic logo, giving a distinctive touch of modernity. The collar, on the other hand, denotes an extremely lower profile on the rear, suitable for housing the Achilles tendon in the most comfortable way, especially during step extension. Only note: someone felt a slight discomfort on the side, where the end of the tongue is located. The mounting insole combines nylon and fiberglass with differentiated thickness, giving excellent sensitivity when climbing. On steep terrains we appreciated the precision of the support on the toe and the flexibility given by the midsole. These two aspects give a certain dynamism. On the sole there’s Vibram Mont compound developed for trekking and backpacking and characterized by excellent traction. The clearest impression we had concerns a great stability of the foot, combined with a sense of total reliability. It is a boot intended for intermediate level hikers who already approach technical and demanding terrain. A certain degree of rigidity and limited volumes may not be suitable for novice hikers. Notewhorty are the two insoles with differentiated thicknesses included, in the Regular and Narrow versions.
